For the first time in its history, the Florida Supreme Court will conduct a virtual induction ceremony for the swearing in of new Florida attorneys.

On December 9, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. ET, hundreds of applicants who have completed the Bar exam and background checks will take the oath of attorney from Florida Chief Justice Charles Canady in a live statewide videoconference induction.

The Court decided to hold a virtual event to accommodate as many applicants as possible during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. In the past, formal induction ceremonies were held in courtrooms around the state, including one each fall at the Florida Supreme Court Building in Tallahassee.

Families and friends can watch the induction live on the Court’s Gavel to Gavel video portal and its Facebook Live feed. New admittees will receive separate instructions from the Florida Board of Bar Examiners on how to execute the oath of attorney as required by law.
