Visiting the Court

TOURS

The Florida Supreme Court is now offering both in-person and virtual tours for school groups, civic organizations, and leadership groups. The 45-60-minute tour provides information about Florida’s judicial branch, the different levels of courts in Florida, and how the Supreme Court operates. Included in the tour are the public areas of the building: courtroom; lawyer’s lounge; rotunda, and library.

If you would like to schedule a tour of the Court for your class/group, please email rietowe@flcourts.org. Both types of tours provide information about the judicial branch, the different levels of courts in Florida and how the Florida Supreme Court operates.

The Supreme Court welcomes many visitors every year. Visitors can observe oral arguments, participate in a free tour or educational program, or conduct a self-guided tour. The courthouse is open Monday - Friday, excluding Court Holidays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Observing Oral Arguments

Oral Arguments are held August through June and are typically scheduled during the first full week of each month. No appointment is necessary to observe an argument. Seating is first-come, first-served, but the courtroom only fills to capacity during very high-profile cases.

Large groups such as classes of students are asked to notify the Marshal's Office in advance if they plan to attend arguments. The Marshal's Office phone is at 850.488.8845. The courtroom accommodates up to 165 visitors. Once that capacity has been reached, visitors will be directed to overflow rooms elsewhere in the building to watch oral arguments on closed-circuit television.
